I entered the local marathon and ran my first half marathon. It was hard but more fun than I expected. The runners at the back where I was helped each other, talked to each other and basically made sure everyone felt encouraged to finish. It was so overwhelmingly awesome! Not an impressive time by any means, but I truly don’t care! What made it so incredible were the people. They actually cheered for us and encouraged us all the way. I got a really beautiful medal, a t-shirt, and even better – beautiful memories of a sunny spring day with friends celebrating our abilities and each other.

My Family History

I have been doing genealogy on my family for the last year and I have been able to go back quite a few years so far. My ancestors were probably all from the British Empire and settled in the southern United States well before the Civil War. My husband is French-Canadian and Acadian and his ancestors came to the New World in the 1600s. They settled in Maine and generations seemed to have alternated between the US and Canada. But we are all more “American” than anything else.
